Alumni are the heartbeat of any great institution. Our alumni volunteers’ contributions, collaborations and achievements help sustain the Faculty’s vision and are a continual source of pride and inspiration for all, in particular for the new generation of KPE students. If you’re thinking giving a little time to KPE through your experience, expertise and/or leadership, here are some ways you can get involved as alumni:
Career Support
Share your academic and career story with current KPE students either in-person or online. Through our KINections program, alumni can volunteer as career panelists and offer career advice to students thinking about life after graduation. Through our BKIN Career Chats, alumni can share their expertise through one-on-one virtual chats with students. Through our BKIN In-Field Learning program, alumni can mentor students through hosting them at their place of work and offering job shadowing opportunities.
T-Holders’ Association
The T-Holders’ Association is an active volunteer group that represents all sports. Its purpose is to develop and assist general athletic and alumni programs. A T-Holder is an individual who has won a U of T athletic letter (i.e., a T). Varsity Blues alumni can support T-Holders’ Association activities such as the U of T Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Blues Alumni Welcome Breakfast, and other events.
KPE Alumni Network
This newly established network represents all alumni that graduated from the Faculty. Alumni can support this network through developing KPE alumni e-newsletters, new grad e-newsletters, the annual Call for Volunteers communications piece, supporting Class Reps with their class reunion efforts, and more.
Award Nominations
Act as nominator for a U of T awards program such as the U of T Student Leadership Awards, U of T Sports Hall of Fame, Arbor Awards, and Carl Mitchell Community Impact Award.
Governance
Alumni have representative positions on the Council of Athletics and Recreation, the U of T Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee, the Awards Committee and more. Alumni representation is also sought for special projects such as task forces and search committees. If you would like to volunteer your time and talent, please contact alumni.kpe@utoronto.ca for more information.
Event Assistance
The experience and knowledge of alumni is often called upon to assist in staging alumni events and intercollegiate sports activities. Support may take the form of event promotions, event set-up and registration table staffing, and officiating, to name a few.
Organize a Reunion
Want to get together with your old classmates or teammates? Become a Class Rep or Team Rep and we can help you organize a reunion. These reunions can happen anytime throughout the year. Alumni and teams are encouraged to celebrate their special dates and to think about including the current team in their plans. This can be accomplished by planning the event around a Varsity Blues game or by inviting coaches and student-athletes to the function. Contact us at alumni.kpe@utoronto.ca for more information on being a Class or Team Rep.
